Hintergrund
Gestartet hatte Kais fotografische Laufbahn im London der späten 90er, wo er als Mode- und Porträtfotograf für Fashion- und Lifestyle-Magazine arbeitete. Dann folgte New York als langjähriger Ausgangspunkt für seine Arbeit als Werbefotograf, als der er seitdem weltweit Kunden und Agenturen mit seinem Fotografie-Stil beliefert. Marken wie American Express, Kangol, Mercedes Benz und Wella vertrauen ihm ihre Kampagnen an. Kai fühlt sich bei großen Werbeproduktionen in Kapstadt und LA genauso zu Hause wie auf kleinen, kreativen Editorials und während freier, künstlerischer Arbeiten, bei denen er mit neuen visuellen Ansätze und Techniken experimentiert.
Lehre
Kai Wiechmann möchte Euch beim Ausbau Eurer fotografischen Fähigkeiten und bei der Entwicklung Eurer künstlerischen Persönlichkeit unterstützen. Nebst seiner Tätigkeit in Werbung und Editorial betrachtet er Experimentierfreude und einen kontinuierlichen Lernprozess als Nährboden für kreatives Wachstum. Deshalb unterrichtet er aktuell u.A. Fotografie an der SRH School of Design and Communication in Berlin und mitunter an der FH Dortmund, Fachbereich Design, an der er einst selber auch sein Fotodesign-Studium absolviert hatte.
Im Jahr 2024 beschloss er, diese Lehrtätigkeit mit THE VISUAL LOFT in Berlin in eigener Sache zu erweitern, um seine Liebe zur Fotografie mit Foto-Enthusiast*innen und aufstrebenden professionellen Kreativen zu teilen.
